Mail Call

I received a beautiful piece of correspondence in the mail today. The envelope is soft cotton with the most perfect soft wrinkles and folds. It has a waxed seal with the initial "F" and hand glued rhinestones that create two lovely flowers. How refreshing to receive something so beautiful! It made me take pause - what is it that makes beautiful mail so special? First and foremost, I appreciate the thoughts and efforts made especially for Faerie Magazine. And I know it was initally and thoroughly created specifically for Faerie Magazine because it had our name on the other side! The contents were already sealed when the envelope was decorated! I want to send beautiful letters in beautiful envelopes too! I began to think - how could we begin a 'beautiful things' pen pal club? How many people would be interested? How old fashioned, and fun!

  1. Now when you say pen pal and mention that it is old fashioned, are you refering to post mail? "Snail mail", as it is referred unlovingly by most today is a dream of long distance correspondence of mine. When I say it is romantic I'm not refering to relationship terms but rather an era I'd like to see and return to, if only to visit.

  2. You have inspired me to write a long-overdue stack of letters today. With excellent paper and a fine pen. Thank you.

  3. Kim,
You should delete the Chinese comments in your blog. I have found them to be troublesome and caused me to have some computer problems a few months ago.

  4. I would love a 'beautiful things' penpal. I think the idea is utterly charming...though being in Australia might put people off - as postage costs can be a problem for some people.

I'm current;y illustrating and constructing a pop-up letter for a friend who is a little blue as part of a joint effort of all her friends to make a whole book of letters to help her through some emotional pain.

  5. I think that is a glorious idea! I see you haven't posted for a bit. Is there another blog that you currently use? Hope to start this fun this summer and wake our senses to the beauty of kindness around us.

    Hello,
I am writing to you a second time, because for some reason, the first one said " Reply Delete" after what I had written. So. I please tell me where I can send you my stories for your consideration.
    Sincerely,
    Jean E. Gray
